Jasper

On the evening of December 16, 2006 the trailer I had long been waiting for pulled into the driveway of the horse farm that I had been working at for a multiple number of years. My beautiful horse had finally arrived .

The moment I saw the numerous amount of horses on United Pegasus, all whom were slaughter bound at a feedlot in Canada, I knew I had to help in some way. I decided to adopt one of the many PMUs; through a painstaking process I narrowed down my numerous choices to one. Though it took me weeks to name him, I was glad I had chosen Jasper. Adopting him has been one of the most rewarding experiences.

He was a year and half when he arrived on that foggy December evening. He is now about to turn three, and I nowhere near regret my decision to rescue Jasper. Though training has never gone as smoothly as I would have liked, it has been an enriching learning experience. Jasper always aims to please, and is quick to figure things out. I couldn’t have asked for a better first rescue experience, and I look forward to the many years to come of working with my gorgeous horse, my best friend, Jasper.

Roger Norris runs a business, not a charity, but it’s hard to be unsympathetic when a desperate horse owner is on the phone.

Norris, who boards horses and runs trail rides, has taken in four horses in the past two months.

Recently a woman wanted to give him all five of her horses, including two thoroughbreds.
